Public Speaking - Mr Wall
My first Ty module class was Public Speaking with Mr Wall. I found the subject very interesting as Mr Wall taught us the real applications of public speaking and some examples of famous speechs. After a few classes to settle in we began to prepare for the end of module exam.
for this we had to write a speech and present it with a power point in front of an examiner. I chose the topic of alcoholism as we had discussed it in Religion and I though it was a pressing matter in Ireland.
The whole class taught me a lot about speeches and how to give a speech and this made it enjoyable.
History - Mr Roche
In Ty History we started the term with an interesting project. We had to make a booklet about a chosen brand. Me and my partner chose Landrover and did our project. We included facts such as the history of the brand and its logo's. I enjoyed the project and was happy with the outcome of the booklet.
Our next project was a powerpoint about the State of Louisiana. I learnt a lot about this state as I didnt know much before the project. I presented it to the class and I was happy with the end result.

Chemistry - Ms Aylmer & Ms Doyle
My Chemistry Scientist project was about physicist Robert Andrews Millikan. The project explored his life and career in physics and his major finding. Although I am happy with my grade I thought I let myself down when it came to the theory related to Millikans findings.
I also did a project on Ozone depletion, this is a topic always in the news so it was interesting to research and learn more about it.
My class also did a group chemistry project about daily chemical reactions.
~Chemistry Experiments
In chemistry we did a titration experiement. This involved the titration of hydrochloric acid (HCL) against sodium hydroxide (NaOH). We did the experiment and saw the neutralisation of an acid and a base.
Results: 1st time, 28.3
2nd time, 26.7
3rd time, 26.3
4th time, 26.1

The first task we were set in Ty biology was to make a poster project based on any aspect of ecology. I chose to do my project on extinction. I wrote about the causes of extinction, the stage of extinction and how to save a species through conservation and so on. I enjoyed making the project and made sure it had loads of information and pictures of a few of the species that were mentioned.
Throughout the year I also did a number of worksheets and a project on Evolution and a project on Cystic fibrosis. These projects were good because I had heard a lot about Cystic fibrosis and I enjoyed learning about it and I enjoyed researching evolution and Charles Darwin.
~Pottery - Mr O'Connor
My Ty pottery module was good fun and a bit different from the rest of the academic based modules. The class was enjoyable as I find pottery fun and we were able to chat while making our models. We learnt lots of techniques such a how to make a pinch pot and how to fire and glaze clay. I thoroughly enjoyed the module and I got to make some great models.
~Health and Safety - Mr O'Connor
For the Ty health module we simply looked at our school and learnt how to assess risks and dangers and identify hazards and hazardous places such as the kitchen and carpark. This was an interesting module as it was different to anything I had done before.

This year we also did oral work about our ty trips, such as the camping trip, travel, .
we also watched two historical french movies such as Joyeux Noël and the Battle of Algiers and learnt about the history of French and Algerian relations.
